Maryanne McGuire | Fine Art Travel & Underwater Photographer

Born in New York and now based in San Diego, Maryanne McGuire is a fine art mixed media photographer specializing in underwater and travel photography. Growing up on the Great South Bay on Long Island, she developed a deep connection to water, finding solace in its quiet power. An avid swimmer since childhood, the ocean has always been her sanctuary—a place of renewal, peace, and clarity.

At 19, she drove cross-country until she reached the Pacific, where she fell in love with California. She earned a BA in Communications/Visual Arts from UCSD and later founded McGuire Photography, blending her passion for photography with her love of travel and the ocean.

Travel photography fuels her creativity, allowing her to capture fleeting moments of light and life in beautiful locations around the world. Underwater, she creates ethereal, weightless portraits where subjects become one with their surroundings. Partnering with them in the realm of free diving, she immerses herself in the silent world below, using water as both a canvas and collaborator.

Through every image, Maryanne seeks to share the beauty and emotion of the world—above and below the surface—inviting viewers to experience a sense of wonder, connection, and self-discovery.
